About Laura Fleig, CEO

Laura grew up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. She started her career in finance taking accounting and bookkeeping classes while working as a deputy clerk in the Village of Rushville after graduating high school. She moved to North Dakota to follow the oilfield and started her own business as a floral designer/wedding planner. North Dakota’s extreme cold weather led to her spending quite a bit of time looking up jobs in Hawaii and the only jobs available were accounting jobs. She refocused on a financial career and 2 years later in 2017, she graduated with her Bachelor’s in Accounting.

Still in ND, she worked at Liberty Tax Service as a public tax preparer, cleaned up books and obtained MSA’s for a trucking company and then helped a consulting company set up office and applied for jobs all over the south coastline in any spare time. She moved to Corpus Christi to interview at a few different companies and took a temp Tax Prep Assistant position with Flores Tax Service the day after arriving in Corpus Christi. When the position ended, she worked with another local business owner in development and bookkeeping of his two companies and obtained some other private clients including a highly successful advertising business from ND. After a couple years when systems were set up, she moved to a less full-time role with the Corpus Christi client and began to expand her own company and take on more clients.

She credits her rural upbringing and the high taxes/bad economy of upstate NY with her drive and energy to succeed. Because of the taxes and restrictive business laws, with NY at times having been referred to as the number one most unfriendly state to small businesses, those who will do well in NY have to work very hard, be edgy and have good contacts and relations with people. That work ethic stays even if you leave New York. Laura also has a heart for the underdog and the challenges that small businesses face and gives everything she can to provide them the tools to do well and to help them find whatever niche in the market they need to grow. As an accountant, often that is tracking money better and learning how to use their software correctly.

She also has several years’ experience with corporate accounting and corporate tax prep and understands the complexity and importance of accurate quarterly and annual records for corporations. Some of the firm’s corporate clients include oilfield, construction, retail & health/medical.

Laura has a notary license and offers notary services for Portland, TX, Corpus Christi, TX and the surrounding areas. She offers mobile notary services as well.
